FREEDARREN MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
What makes our program unique?
What makes this program unique is the strategic method of using the youth in a manner which opens lines of communication with prisoners.
Allowing prisoners to express and utilize their individual experiences which may assist the youth in understanding their own personal predicaments.
Who are we targeting?
Youth ages 6-18. Male and female. Those whose behavior is heading towards or at a deviant delinquency status
What will the community gain from this program?
The Child/Mentee will gain respect for authority figures, improvement of family relationships, coping with peer pressure, gang prevention, and drug and alcohol abuse counseling
The Inmates/Mentors will have a chance to build character, improve social skills, and provide life changing services to our youth.
IF WE ENRICH OUR YOUTH AT A YOUNG AGE, WE CAN STOP OUR YOUTH FROM MAKING POOR DECISIONS.
This Mentorship program will mentor teens that are seemingly not able to shake the fiasco of social demise. We are trying to use the mentors thru troubled life experiences to relate to those teens and help eradicate their anti-social behavior. FreeDarren Mentorship program will be a non- traditional program which utilizes prisoners as a preventive tool for redirecting the lives of at risk youth. It is not a program to scare or intimidate the youth. It does not condemn the youth, only the acts that may cause the youth to lead down the wrong road.
